I got this oversized jacket because it reminded me of the movie Clueless (don’t you just love that movie). At the time of purchase, (like 18+ months ago) it wasn’t exactly oversized. Fast forward to now and its a bit bigger but still just as stylish and ironically even more on trend (or haven’t you noticed that plaid is everywhere). Here’s why it works:

  1. Pushed up sleeves always look cooler! And in many cases make you look thinner, especially when your skin shows. Try this at home with an older jacket/blazer.
  2. Can be worn as an over-coat before coat season officially starts.
  3. Oversized yes, shapeless no! Curved princess seams are a girls best friend (and yes in some cases they are better than diamonds). Your jacket must have shape to it. Tailoring with great seams is just the place to start. They are usually located on the sides and backs of jackets.  The last thing you want to have is a boxy oversized anything. You want to show the curves you have and add some where there aren’t any.
  4. I added a pinstripe shirt to show you an easy way to mix patterns. The key is to make sure the colors are the same if not similar. Create a color story with your outfits and visually it will make sense.
  5. Color blocking is fading out, remember this formula: statement on top, simple on the bottom or the reverse. A good story has 1 main character and your outfit should be the same. Statement jacket, simple pumps.

When I told my friends and family I was prepping for this post they all said, What? Why? What kind of questions do your readers send you! In your defense I replied, ” Well a funeral is a life specific  occasion. Grim and sad as they may be, its something we all experience. And yes what to wear, depending on the circumstance can be one of your top 10 questions concerning the event. In fact did you know that what to wear to a funeral service is one of the top 5 most Googled style questions on the net? Grim and sad as it might be I thought that was pretty cool. So here’s what I’m proposing you wear to one of life’s most un-welcomed occasions. And yes it’s black.

How To Wear Booties pt. 1

Booties RS 1

Fall is officially bootie season. Personally I love a good bootie. They are comfortable, stylish and multifunctional.  When you think about it they are basically the perfect mashup between a pump and a boot. Which make them ideal for work and weekend. The ones that I have chosen to wear in this post are leopard and they lace up. I don’t know about you but, in my world leopard is a neutral. Meaning you can pretty much wear it with any and everything. Here I’ve paired them with one of the hottest looks for Fall, chunky knits and skirts.
